SJR SUFFERS LOSS OF TWO COACHES!

It is with the deepest sadness that we have to announce the passing of two import coaches in SJR baseball History.

RUSSELL McCONNELL

One of the first varsity head coaches, Russell McConnell, passed away on January 14th in Boca Raton, Florida. He worked in the SJR guidance office for 40 years and was the head varsity coach of the SJR baseball team in its infancy in the late 60's. Coach McConnell was buried at the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.

PAUL "PAULIE" RAMASCO

Coach Paulie Ramasco

On January 19th we lost longtime SJR Baseball Coach Paul Ramasco. If you have been associated with SJR Baseball anytime over the past 30+ years, then you knew Coach Paulie. He was a fixture at the fields whether there was a game or not. He bled Green and Gold (and St Johns red and Yankee blue)! Our program was his life....the players, the fields, everything. You could not have a conversation with him without SJR Baseball coming up. He along with the late Jim Whitney were longtime friends and freshman coaches that brought the majority of freshman championships to SJR during their tenure. He was never afraid to voice his opinion and to tell you how to make yourself a better player and person. He will be sorely missed by so many. Rest in Peace Coach Paulie, we'll keep your seat warm for you!

Final arrangements for Coach Ramasco are as follows:

Wake: Monday, January 22, 2018 from 3pm - 8pm at Spearing Funeral Home,155 Kinderkamack Rd, Park Ridge, NJ
Funeral: Tuesday, January 23, 2018, 10am at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Park Ridge.
Burial at Garden of Memories, Township of Washington, NJ
Donations: in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org
